Today’s heavy downpour swamped TTC stations, washed down highway lanes, including those on the DVP, Lake Shore Road and generally demolished Toronto’s sidewalks, infrastructure, and streets. More than 165,000 customers, mostly in west Toronto, are without power, according to Toronto Hydro.

The Greater Toronto Area has seen extensive flooding, and according to Environment Canada, there is still a chance of up to 125 mm of rain falling in the future.
Up to 40 millimetres of rain may fall per hour in the GTA, according to the meteorological service, which has issued a rainfall warning.

Lake Shore Boulevard is closed in both directions from British Columbia Road to Strachan Avenue, according to the City of Toronto, because of flooding. At Bayview Avenue, the Don Valley Parkway is likewise closed from the south.

Even Toronto Airport flights were delayed for multiple hours due to the heavy rain and lightning strikes. According to Toronto Pearson International Airport, flooding has blocked a portion of Convair Drive in the Mississauga area surrounding the airport. Nevertheless, neither the airport nor any reported flight interruptions experienced floods.

In order to avoid any road closures and to ensure a safe arrival, travellers are encouraged to plan their route ahead of time, according to the airport.

Twelve people have been saved from floods on the DVP, according to Toronto Fire, one of them was pulled from the roof of their car.

According to Toronto Fire, crews have been called to an unusually high number of flooding and elevator entrapment incidents.
