City of Vancouver is gridlocked by snow the morning

Sometimes the Weather forecast is just not accurate, but not this time! Yesterday, winter weather warning was issued for the City of Vancouver with expectation of 20- 30cm snow fall. This morning, Vancouver residents woke up to several centimetres of snow on the ground and the morning traffic is just awful.

The northbound lanes on Alex Fraser Bridge are now open while southbound lanes continue to be closed. The Alex Fraser Bridge was impassable earlier in the evening due to multiple buses and semi trucks spinning out, according to tweets.

Traffic at the George Massey Tunnel south of Steveston is also affected by a southbound vehicle incident. According to DriveBC, traffic is being diverted through the bus lane before merging back into the right lane.

Meanwhile, traffic in surrounding areas has also been affected and motorists are advised to drive safe and keep an eye on changing road conditions due to the ongoing snowfall.

For Richmondites taking transit, the construction scheduled for Canada Line on Tuesday night has been cancelled.

Buses in Richmond are also experiencing ongoing delays due to snowy roads.
